Biography

Yegân Erdem received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Electrical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley in 2013.

During her doctoral studies, she worked in the research laboratories of Prof. Albert Pisano and Prof. Fiona Doyle to develop microfluidic systems for the controlled synthesis of nanoparticles. She received her M.S. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington in 2008.

In 2008, she worked in Prof. Karl Böhringer’s research group under his supervision on the development of textured surfaces for droplet transport and the characterization of a walking microrobot. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Sabancı University in 2006.

Her research interests include microfluidics, MEMS, nanomaterials, nanosensors, and energy harvesting. She has taught ME 211 Thermo-Fluids Engineering and ME 615 Microfluidics.
