Biography
Dr. Ata Dönmez received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University.
During his master’s studies, he worked at Roketsan as a research and design engineer on motion and vibration control systems.
He received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in the field of nonlinear gear system dynamics. Between 2022 and 2025, he continued his postdoctoral research at The Ohio State University, focusing on explaining complex nonlinear phenomena in mechanical structures through experimental and theoretical approaches.
In the Fall semester of 2025, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bilkent University as an Assistant Professor. He leads the Structural Dynamics and Nonlinear Phenomena research group.
Dr. Dönmez is a recipient of the TÜBİTAK 2232B International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers.
